Agility at Scale with Atlassian Datacenter on AWS
An agile transformation such as BMW Group’s move towards 100% agile is a large and complex change. A consolidation of the tool landscape is a typical and oftentimes necessary step of such a transformation. Common tools enable effective collaboration, and having a single point of truth is what makes company-wide metrics meaningful and valuable.
Raiffeisen Bank International AG
The overall project goal was the introduction of a risk management platform for RBI’s subsidiaries in Central and Eastern Europe based on SAS. The magnitude of the project led to high complexities and in 2010, it was required to change the traditional way of managing this project.
In January 2013 Gigaset chose ByteSource as partner for the development of a new state-of-the-art web frontend for their brand new home automation solution (gigaset-elements.de) The partners were facing a very tight time-frame, continuously evolving business requirements and teams as well as infrastructure that were distributed around Europe.
Data Center with Zero Downtime Architecture
“Zero Downtime” for all business-related applications. This includes critical database and middleware updates as well as application releases. Due to legal regulations, the loss of even a single customer request will not be tolerated. This also applies to frequent switches between the various data centers. In order to strengthen the company’s global competitive edge, the new concept focuses on low production costs...
Online Payment Solution
The product launch time plays a crucial role in its economic success. Therefore, this innovative product must be developed within an extremely short time frame. In a development team of 8 to 12 people we go into production after about four months. The result upon completion of the project is a completely new system and software architecture. The development process is characterized by...
Group Data Warehouse
On the system architecture side, we redesign the already existing SMP-based system and evaluate the new Linux based version in comparison to the Unix based one. The new solution distinguishes itself through increased stability and performance. So the decision is made for a Linux based cluster solution (Oracle RAC), which runs on cost-effective commodity hardware.
J2EE – Coaching and Architectural Design
The education and training of approximately 70 software developers in the areas of Enterprise Java, handling transactions, data persistence, asynchronous communication, etc. We also implement test driven software development (TDD) in combination with the corresponding tools. To ensure data persistence, we design and develop an OR mapping layer for a telecommunications specific database system.
Oracle RAC Cluster
The current SPARC/Solaris based system can no longer handle the increasing transaction load. This affects the stability of the system, among other things. The “operations” and “development” departments are finding themselves being increasingly forced to work on Query levels as well as with workarounds. The central database is essential for the customer’s business operations.
SAS Agile Infrastructure
SAS is a powerful software widely spread for statistical calculations. It is mostly used in the business department, but as usage grows, more IT support is required (stable data streams, regular reports …). And here IT staff often meets some challenges in order to run SAS as professional as i.e. Java environments. Often seen as painful is deployment (specially if SAS metadata is used) and the installation of a full SAS stack.
Analytical Data Warehouse
The first production version of the data warehouse is already available after one month of development. It is based on an Oracle database and runs on Unix. A comprehensive cost analysis and a “Proof of Concept” are conducted by the customer in order to compare the recommended solution with the one used thus far (based on a mainframe system). The assessment falls in favor of the Oracle/Unix version recommended by us.
Gigaset chose ByteSource as partner for the development of a new state-of-the-art web frontend for their brand new home automation solution (gigaset-elements.de). The partners were facing a very tight time-frame, continuously evolving business requirements and teams as well as infrastructure that were distributed around Europe. ByteSource took on the challenge and played a leading role in setting up Scrum as an agile development process. Our employees were successfully integrated in their Scrum team. Best practices were applied quickly and enabled them to implement further features independently. Apart from the consulting services regarding the setup and actual application of Scrum ByteSource developed the web frontend based on HTML 5. Right from the start ByteSource focused on cross browser compatibility and appropriate testing. The ByteSource Web Testing Cluster turned out to be a real quality booster. It was used to automate application testing on 15 different browsers running on 3 desktops and 2 mobile operating systems. Gigaset valued the cross functional expertise in the areas of acceptance driven development, agile development methodologies, distributed system architecture, secure Web architecture, cross device scenario testing, release build and fully automated QA cycles. Within the last 6 months ByteSource became a reliable and valuable partner. We strongly recommend ByteSource as agile experts with a strong technological background.
Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) hired ByteSource to increase the capacity for the roll-out of our retail risk management platform but also to add creativity for solving existing and upcoming issues. After the initial phase, ByteSource quickly became an important part of the project team. Their competence in the area of professional software development and operations combined with the ability to provide problem solutions within a short time-frame enabled RBI to introduce agile development methods. ByteSource proved to be a reliable partner providing transparent results as required by the project management. We see in ByteSource a strong partner, also for future projects
